History


Established in 1956, Kaiping County Sugar Biscuits Factory, the predecessor of Jiashili, was the result of the conglomeration of 17 individual biscuit workshops operating in the Kaiping region. These workshops were from various districts of the region, namely Sanbu, Sheiko, Chiksui, and Chican, and operated as private businesses until they responded to the local administration's call in 1956 to become a joint venture in Kaiping through a public-private partnership. The objective of this partnership was to expand the influence of biscuit businesses throughout Kaiping County.

Over the years, the factory underwent significant development, and in 1991 it was renamed Jiashili, paving the way for the future establishment of Guangdong Jiashili Food Group Co., Ltd. In 2008. This milestone marked the birth of Jiashili and laid the foundation for its subsequent success as a leading biscuit company in modern China.

According to historical records found in "Kaiping County Biography" published by The Chinese Zhonghua Publisher, among the 17 biscuit workshops in Kaiping County, the earliest one, known as Shong Yee Biscuits Workshop from Chican, dates back to 1880 during the late Qing Dynasty. At that time, Kaiping was plagued by frequent natural disasters and poor harvests. Simultaneously, news of gold rush in the United States spread, capturing the attention of many young individuals from Kaiping, including Mr. Sito, the founder of Shong Yee Biscuits Workshop, who embarked on a voyage overseas to seek better development opportunities.

After several years, like numerous overseas Chinese returning home, Mr. Sito brought back biscuits as well as abundant materials and advanced techniques for biscuit production in Chican. It is from this humble beginning that the prosperity of Shong Yee Biscuits Workshop originated, eventually paving the way for the future emergence of Jiashili , a colossal player in the modern Chinese biscuit industry.

As the wheel of history continues to roll, the legacy of Jiashili has evolved from a humble biscuit workshop in Chican village during the 1880s to the Kaiping County Sugar Biscuits Factory in 1956 and the official renaming as Jiashili in 1985. Finally, in 2008, it became the biscuit conglomerate known as Guangdong Jiashili Food Group Corporation. Each milestone represents the hard work and dedication of Jiashili workers passed down through generations.
